SA: Holden picks builder for new corporate headquarters

ADELAIDE, Dec 4 AAP - The Baulderstone Hornibrook company has been chosen to build
Holden's new corporate headquarters in Port Melbourne, part of the car maker's $200 million
redevelopment of the Fishermans Bend precinct.

Construction will begin this month and the project is expected to be completed by mid 2005.

The new building will accommodate more than 1,500 employees next to the existing Holden
technical centre in Salmon Street.

Holden chairman and managing director from January 2004, Denny Mooney said the new
centre would allow many parts of the Holden business to be integrated into a single workplace
for the first time.

"This building will take Holden into the 21st century," he said.

"It will provide 20,400 square metres of office space inside a three-storey building
including two three storey atrium spaces.

"The building will feature a 1,700 square metre entry foyer and concourse and 700 square
metre area for Holden employee forums and general functions."

The project will be fully funded by the James Fielding Group and Holden will lease
back the buildings on a long-term basis.

Work on the new headquarters also follows the recent opening of Holden's $400 million
V6 engine plant in Melbourne.
