SYDNEY, Dec 29 AAP - The national holiday road toll stood at 34 today after a teenage
boy died from injuries sustained in an accident early on Christmas Day.

Police said the 15-year-old died in Wagga Base Hospital in NSW yesterday afternoon.

He was struck by a car at Leeton in the state's southwest about 4am on Christmas Day.

Police believed the young male car driver went over an embankment and hit a tree on
Hawkesbury Road in the Blue Mountains.

Earlier, the 52-year-old American man was killed and another man critically injured
in a hit-and-run crash in Plumpton, in Sydney's west.

Fifteen people have been killed on the roads in NSW since the holiday period began.
